The frustrating thing is I think my brother still doesn't see how it is primarily leftist ideas that the State fears & puts down, & I still don't know how to get it across.
Like, the people on "my side" have been on the receiving end of the bulk of the violence, suppression, and surveillance, even if the occasional right-wing Libertarian types occasionally give them too much trouble.

@artemis@dice.camp The fact is, there is little to no leftist political representation in America. It has been completely suppressed, and what we’re left with is mostly a kind of progressive-centrism, which is still considered ‘too radical’.

I believe leftism is still alive here, but it is absolutely in hiding.The suppression is so intense, but leftism is not gone. And the conditions are certainly right for more widespread radicalization (which of course is why the suppression is being amped up so much).

@artemis@dice.camp Oh, I don’t disagree, but you’ll never see it represented in mainstream news or big Op-Eds.
