11 September 1924 | Slovak Jew, Rudolf Vrba (b. Walter Rosenberg), was born in Topoľčany.
On 15 June 1942, he was deported to Majdanek from where after a few weeks he was transferred to Auschwitz.
No. 44070On 7 April 1944, he escaped from #Auschwitz together with Alfred Wetzler. Their report contributed later to halting the deportations of Hungarian Jews for extermination to Auschwitz.
Rudolf Vrba passed away in March 2006 in Vancouver.
