      @idoclosecuts
      After the pandemic shut downs, our little city was filled with very aggressive speeding drivers. Then they put in moveable speed cameras, published where they were going to be on a map for everyone to see, and within 3 weeks, all the aggressive speeding went down. It's truly nice to drive again. It's not just about the money, it's getting people to slow down and be civilized while driving 2-4 tons of metal that can kill.

        @OhOkayKay
        Aggressive driving has become the norm and as a person who prefers to walk whenever possible I've been nearly hit so many times I had to start carrying a loud air horn so blast drivers who are speeding and not paying attention.
        I used to be against speed cameras due to privacy issues but that's now taken the back seat, if you will.

          After seeing first hand what speed cameras can accomplish in such a short period of time, I'm all for them.
          BTW our city tends to put them in school zones and by the hospital. Areas where people definitely need to slow down and pay attention.

            @idoclosecuts True enough, but the line seems blurrier when local governments do things like shorten the amber light time beyond minimum standards, for no visible purpose beyond raising red-light ticket counts. (Apparently a thing back where I'd lived previously)

              @tim_lavoie personally, I don’t think that is happening, this is the first time I’ve heard that idea;

              I believe the angry drivers in this situation don’t live on the neighbourhoods where they complain about the cameras, but they’re probably ok with cameras in their neighbourhood;
