Don Bacon on the need for the US to lead on Ukraine.Two weeks have passed since this Republican Administration last put Russia "on notice" that they needed to negotiate a ceasefire and an end to the war that Russia began by invading a neighboring sovereign nation. Russia has used this time to escalate their attacks on Ukraine and brazenly attempt to attack locations in Poland. (No one accidentally flies 19 drones 400+ miles off course.) I want the US to cease buying nuclear fuel from Russia. Maybe they thought no one would notice, but I know that 25% of the reactor-grade uranium the US needs for domestic energy production comes from Russia. We need to stop those purchases immediately.Then the US needs to impose serious tariffs on any nation and any company buying anything from Russia. I want the US to do it first, leading by example, and then asking NATO and the EU to follow our lead. Please do what you can to reinvigorate the bills that exist imposing tariffs on those supporting Putin's war. Get loud on social media and in the news about how the US can lead and bring an end to this war.Encourage this Republican Administration to lead on Ukraine. History is watching. Putin is watching. I want you to stress the social contract that built this country--those who have surged ahead have an obligation to help those who have not yet made their mark. The 1% have thrived thanks to a system built over decades of public investment in schools, roads, ports, communications, regulatory agencies, and the courts. I want you to talk about how paying taxes is a patriotic duty that shows you support your fellow Americans and want every American to have the chance to build their own economic future. The large banks that dominate the financial sector don't pay attention to small businesses, and the thousands of small, local banks are under tremendous strain. I want you to start a bipartisan initiative to restore small-bank programs in small towns for local businesses. Build bipartisan support for the USDA programs that matched local farms with local schools so that both benefitted, and fully fund the farm-to school programs that got cut in March.Local businesses are where all Americans can come together. I want you to draft legislation to make sure the rich pay their fair share of taxes and small-town businesses can thrive. I know this legislation might not move now, but I want it out there. Dear Sen / Rep -Rep David Schweikert, has introduced a bill to force all new #Medicare enrollees into a #MedicareAdvantage plan starting Jan 2028, essentially eliminating the public insurance trust that Medicare was designed to be. I am asking you to make sure this bill dies in committee.Medicare Advantage is not true Medicare. The corporate insurance giants claim to serve Medicare patients but use prior authorizations to decide what care a patient can receive. The insurance companies do not have to use any approved standard for medically necessary. They are permitted to use their own internal data to override doctors. They create fake networks of doctors to lure patients in, patients who later find that their doctor or hospital of choice is no longer in network. Nearly every corporate insurance provider of Medicare Advantage has been fined by the US Government for fraud, and despite promising to lower costs, Medicare Advantage costs the US taxpayer $88 billion more a year than Medicare. This is not something that should be the only choice for seniors.The Medicare Advantage experiment has to end. Allowing corporate profit to play a role in the delivery of healthcare has not resulted in additional savings to the taxpayer or better health for seniors. #Resist #ResistOfTheDay
