Ancient scout: reporting in, sir. We probably missed a few in the underbrush, but our army definitely killed at least 317 dudes.

Ancient historian getting paid by the general’s grandson: and as everyone knows, they killed ten thousand dudes, it was glorious.
Modern historian: ancient peoples had no concept of numbers beyond ten thousand, it’s like saying infinity. I ran some simulations in Total War Rome and I conclude they killed at least a hundred thousand dudes, three times the estimated population of the province
