If a post on Mastodon is moderated, a user on Mastodon is immediately notified and can appeal. This process can sometimes be intransparent depending on the moderator, but it's a hell of a lot better than having some AI algorithm delete your posts for being mass reported and then gaslighting you that they never existed.

I've been told by a couple of big accounts it sometimes takes days or weeks for you to be able to appeal a decision and there doesn't seem to be any reason for why this happens. Certain AI automated decisions cannot be appealed.
