      I have had mixed results with the offering suggestion here but it does explain their feeding patterns a bit.

        @cR0w that explains most of it. I've just noticed that they've been out and about way more than usual around this time.

        I'm deathly afraid of them. If I hear them nearby, I lose my shit. I understand from the article that most the time they don't mean any harm still doesn't stop me from freaking the fuck out. I got stung one too many times as a kid.

          @da_667 I'm mostly the same way. I have started using a little bit of raw meat in wasp traps at home and it works pretty well. Unfortunately it does attract some flies as well and they don't do harm, it doesn't attract the other pollinators besides the wasps.
