I've only had this account on the fediverse/mastodon for 3 years, yet I've had more weird hate than at any other time I've been online except possibly USENET in the 1990s and Twitter in the 2010s when I was tweeting favorably about Occupy.

People here have suggested I'm lying more times than I remember. I mean dang, it's fine to disagree with someone but you don't need to besmirch their character. If this were the 18th century we'd be dueling.

I tend to speak my mind because I'm of the opinion that the Abilene paradox should not be a lifestyle, and that's gotten me some IRL hate over the years. But given what I've experienced here and how I've seen others treated, I'd say Mastodon really is something special in this regard.

Rather in every social media bubble, including Mastodon and the Fediverse. This was already the case in the days of IRC in the 1990s.

@fedinautus@mastodon.social Did you not understand that I'm saying my experience is that Mastodon is special (i.e., on par with the worst)? I alluded to using "social media" since USENET of the early 1990s.

Unless this was meant as a demonstration, in which case bravo.

Sorry, perhaps I skipped over something. Yes, I believe we have a similar opinion; the Fediverse is something special and beneficial for people who wish to use social media. Democratic, decentralised, and social.

Whether it's beneficial and in what ways is not what I was talking about. I don't think it tracks to say we have a similar opinion because we are talking about different things.
