Is it ok for people on the ActivityPub network to speak negatively about other distributed social networks?#EvanPoll #poll@DavidBHimself @evan Agreed. Especially since the correct answer is obviously Pepsi.

OMG was reminded that a lot of yβall have never seen the OG Alien, Star Wars, Blade Runner or Close Encounters on the big screen and iβve suddenly felt more than ancient.@dnkboston @blogdiva Talking of which cut is best, Bladerunner is the 1992 Director's Cut, hands down. We never did screen that one because my business partner didn't think it would be a draw (she was wrong and I will die on this hill!), but we did discuss it.
The original studio release of that movie was a mess. Cut to shreds and given a stilted, anachronistic, film noir-style voiceover that ruined the atmosphere.

Impressive, Helix robot doing the dishes, extrapolate a few years and we could see amazing things in robotics.https://youtu.be/8gfuUzDn4Q8?si=vQNgJFhfG7kLpjXo#helix #robotics #AI #dishes@ErikJonker I appreciate the response and mean no disrespect to you when I say the benefits mainly accrue upwards, not downwards to ordinary folks with meagre funds. Musk's "self-driving" cars already function as unregulated surveillance for a reckless billionaire who has way too much power, and is a clear and present danger to democracy. A robot in my home with advanced sensory capacity? In my living room? Bedroom?
I'd dismantle it into individual component parts myself. Not wanted or needed.

What's next, a mini forklift for me to take to the gym to raise the weights for me? A machine to read and interpret all the books so I don't have to? Oh wait, we already have the latter with "AI".
Nah, I'd sooner throw all my tech into a river. We already have amazing brains and bodies of our own.

"First...the relevant secretary of state (Michelle Donelan) expressed "concern" that the [Online Safety Act] might whack sites such as Amazon instead of Pornhub. In response, officials explained that the regulation...was "not primarily aimed atβ¦protection of children", but was about regulating "services that have a significant influence over public discourse", a phrase that rather gives away the political thinking behind the act."
