As I've said after each time the hapless Finnish justice system lets the notorious criminal hacker Julius Kivimaki off with a slap on the wrist, he'll just keep harming people. Because this guy still has zero remorse for his crimes, whether we're talking about his extortion of thousands of people over their psychotherapy patient notes, or any of his other many exploits.

As if POTUS' trade policies haven't directly caused this union in record time. Instead of admitting this was mostly his doing, he doubles down and tells India to go ahead and fuck off with their new friends.

Watching $Melania Trump drone on this week about the dangers of AI and how the robots are already here was super weird and somehow also very apt coming from her oh-so-robotic delivery. She cares deeply about the children -- the robot children.

“The robots are here. Our future is no longer science fiction,” Trump said as she hosted a meeting of the White House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence Education in the East Room, which marked her first public appearance since July 13.

“As leaders and parents, we must manage AI’s growth responsibly. During this primitive stage, it is our duty to treat AI as we would our own children: empowering, but with watchful guidance,” she said, calling on the leaders to prioritize infrastructure and energy, national security and talent as the technology expands."

One of the few games on my phone is a mobile version of an old, simple but often frustrating pattern recognition game called "Set." It's excellent for keeping your brain sharp.

The game goes like this: You get dealt 12 cards to start all laid out in front of you. Each card has 1, 2 or 3 shapes; each of the shapes on the card is either red, green or blue; and each shape is either fully shaded with the color, striped, or clear w/ just the color on the edge of the shape(s).

The object for each 12 cards is to find a "Set," which consists of three cards that are either:

a) all alike in at least one way
b) not at all alike

If you have any doubts whether any three cards are a set, the rule "If two of the cards are one thing and one of them is not, it's not a Set" usually helps.

Anyway, I discovered something amazing today after playing the app version of this game for the umpteenth time over many years. The app has a version of the game that only does solid shapes, and so it makes the game way less challenging, and a lot faster. What I discovered and have repeatedly demonstrated now is that my score and time for completing the most complex version of this game improved remarkably after just playing the easy version once before trying the harder version.

Super excited to see my first Monarch chrysalis up close, hanging right next to the completely munched-up butterfly weed. That golden thread is just gorgeous, but this photo doesn't do it justice. Hoping to catch another photo when it starts to emerge.
