A bad faith actor is the guy that tells you that things are terrible in the USA, but for you to ignore all that, and please use services in the USA.

A bad faith actor finds out their corporation is in the United States, where the government can force a business to spy on you and not have the right to tell you, but tells you to ignore all that — trust that business anyway.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you shouldn’t trust any development that falls under the jurisdiction of the USA, Russia, or China.

While these countries may have a history of releasing source code, the actual apps or services provided can contain something entirely different.

Open source is not a magical guarantee that the software you install matches the code that’s published — nor that the server you’re connecting to is running that same code.

It’s easy to say “trust, but verify,” but most people don’t know how to do that. And even if you do, it requires constant effort — you'd have to verify every minor update or change. As for what’s running on a remote server or service, that’s not something you can independently validate.

Finally, if you’re living in a fascist country, self-hosting is risky. The weakest link isn’t the software — it’s you. You’re physically present, and so is your data — easily seized.

Ideally, your data should be as detached from you as possible, distributed across multiple national jurisdictions, and hidden behind as many anonymous screen names as imaginable. You should also avoid countries like the USA, Russia, or China, which are widely known for data mining and mass surveillance.

Charlie Kirk was more than just a horrible person — he was a dangerous one. He not only encouraged people to be the worst versions of what humanity had to offer, but also sought to normalize such behavior and urged others to unite in cruelty.

The world is a better place without Charlie Kirk.

Charlie Kirk was not a good person — this is not an objective opinion but a fact, evidenced by his own statement that he did not believe in empathy.

Charlie Kirk preached hate, discrimination, and violence. He believed segregation, racism, and slavery had merit. He was a horrible person.

Furthermore, anyone mourning his loss, other than his immediate family, is certainly not someone you want to associate with.

If I had a child and learned they killed Hitler, I might be concerned, mainly about their future plans, but I would keep my mouth shut.

If I learned they harmed the innocent, with a heavy heart — one broken to pieces — I would turn them in and ask myself where I went wrong.

Because Charlie Kirk encouraged people to embrace Hitler’s mindset and sought to make many Hitlers, I would have kept my mouth shut.
