#ScribesAndMakers Sep 18: If you write novels, do you strive to have your chapters a consistent length?

Ugh. I'm *obsessed* with making them the same length, but I have to break out of that because it's not helping me tell my story. I really struggle with chaptering. I don't have a sense of when to end them or a method for how to decide, the way that I do with scenes and paragraphs. The problem is I think in comic-book issues and/or dramatic "acts" rather than chapters.

Ugh, I say. Ugh.

My voice. My sensibility. My view of the world. That's what's unique about every one of us.

You wanted something more specific? I'm good at dialogue and compulsive behaviours and *finding* the story when I don't know where I'm going. I can be funny.

I'm always hoping for a second set of eyes, but it's going okay. I know what I need to do with two last, I swear to GOD, final scenes in my first draft. It's just a matter of having both the time and the clear head. That's a hard combo.

I do research online. It is a *cool breeze* doing fiction research compared to academic work! Ho man. You don't have to quote it! You don't have to cite it! You can take *liberties* with the facts. My god. So freeing.

I'm so tempted to say "CHA" (IYKYK), but I wouldn't do that. There's nothing I could write up there that would improve it. The Moon has been with humanity since before there were humans. It doesn't "belong" to me or anyone.
