Seeing a lot of American anti -imperialist types read a lot of conspiracy theories into American meddling in the developing world today. I’m sure there is a grain of truth in some of it but I think it is disrespectful that they won’t simply accept that many people around the world have agency to be terrible to anarchists and leftists without additional American intervention.

Oakland’s Thee Stork Club put out an anti-AI statement saying that they were getting the ick, from people who send them AI-generated flyers and promos. They say that that’s not very punk (to prevent graphic artists from developing their chops in this area). They put out a call for graphic artists who want to make things to send them an email (at theestorkclub@gmail.com).

It’s nice to see people taking a stand.

Something I really like about New York: you can ask most people on the street where a train is, or what train to take. Most general transit knowledge is high. It’s a sign of a transit system that is used widely. I feel like many on the west coast don’t have transit knowledge unless they use it or are ‘into’ it

Friend was saying that as an amateur musician who just likes to play music sometimes, New York is a scene with a very clear pro scene. He is the backup singer for a 20 year old international singer debuting globally this week here, and he also sings in a choir that does anime music. Coming to make it in New York is still a thing. There is so much going on, culturally. I like not having to ever get in a car. (Except for when I go live with my family in the burbs in a few days) it’s just so much closer to how I want to live. I have a very similar lifestyle where I live in San Francisco but it feels different in terms of size and just.. diversity of people and backgrounds.

I’m turning 40 in a few weeks. I’m very excited.

When I was a young queer child I often wondered: how am I going to have a life if I am ‘wrong’? I set myself an arbitrary deadline of ‘by 40, I should have figured it out’. I knew that I would need more time than my cishet peers.

I feel very okay with where I am right now and I think that child would have been proud of me.
