Clean sheets, clean bed, clean room.

I feel like a Mack truck hit me after all that activity over the past few hours, so I’m ready for a nap and getting back to being on the mend.

Wanted something mellow and ambient for relaxing and drifting off, so this one gets the call.

Weird thing about this record:
Although it’s intended to play at 45rpm, it’s actually pretty fantastic at BOTH speeds.

At #33rpm , it’s offers something a bit different, but not so different it sounds completely weird or off-putting. So… you’re kinda getting two great sounding experiences for the price of one.
Pretty cool.
Actually, I think I kind of prefer to listen to it at 33.

GENESIS
Rock Roots
1976 UK reissue

Essentially, the first Genesis album From Genesis To Revelation.

And since it’s the only album the band doesn’t own the rights to, it’s been reissued a billion times, with reconfigured track listings, different covers, and bonus tracks.

They were just kids when they recorded this; students at Chatterhouse in 1967.

The album bombed horribly, and so when all of their obligations were fulfilled, they did not want their contract renewed, and they went back to being students.

This is a very different Genesis than what was to come; leaning towards the typical psych-pop of the time. It’s not terrible by any means, but knowing what came after with Collins (who’s absent here) drumming, and all of the art-prog stepping out into the light, it comes off as average. For GENESIS.
Because any of the dime-a-dozen psychpop bands would have loved to make a record like this.
