    Snow Dome

Early November and we're flying from Reykjavik in the south-west of #Iceland to Akureyri in the north-east.

The air was crisp and clear, and the landscape was covered in icy snow.

As the plane crossed over Langjökull, we saw the #volcanic #tuya Eiríksjökull¹ (1675m/5495ft) below.
Strong winds blowing across the summit were creating mountain waves, lovely standing clouds rippling in the lee of the peak.

    One Waterfall, Two Years

We first visited the western bank of lovely Goðafoss¹ in 2014. When we next returned in 2016, a new viewing platform had been built on the eastern side.

At this point, the water of the river Skjálfandafljót² falls from a height of 12m (40ft) over a width of 30m (98ft.)

    a) The main falls from the east
    b) From the west
    c) The crest from the east
    d) Geitafoss, the lower falls
